Blogmas #1 – My Top 4 Festive Hot Drinks

Hello hello helloooo!

Its December and time for my first Blogmas post… woop woop! Christmas is literally just around the corner, yay! I do apologise my first Blogmas post is a couple of days late as I was away this weekend down in Cork with the lovely Claire who I’ve mentioned before in my Ibiza post. I ended up not posting on the blog as I decided that instead, that weekend, that I’d attempt my first ever vlog over the weekend, so that shall be up very soon…

So I think with the cold weather recently, I thought it was appropriate to make my first blog post my top 4 festive hot drinks which taste literally like Christmas, and super easy to make at home. I recently bought this cute coffee syrup set from Costa, and it made me so excited to be able to make festive hot drinks at home, without having to go out and buy them.

Just a heads up, this post contains a PR sample.

I received an email a couple of weeks ago from Rombouts coffee, and was asked if I’d like to try out and review some of their coffee. I was very pleasantly surprised when I received the package, and found 3 boxes of coffee, with 10 cups in each one. As a coffee lover, that was my mornings sorted for the next while! I received the Original style coffee, the Colombian style coffee, and the Italian style coffee. I liked how easy they were to make, you shake filter to spread out the coffee beans, then pop it onto the top of an average sized cup or mug, and boiling water to the line, and pop the lid on, and while it’s filtering, you can be doing whatever needs to be done in the mornings. I tended to go for the Colombian style in the mornings, which is the strongest one, to give me that kick needed to start the day, and the Original style during the day if I needed it, and the Italian style while chilled out in the evenings with a sweet treat. The Italian style was my favourite one as it tasted the sweetest out of them all, and if you’re interested in trying them out, you can find them here.

Gingerbread Latte

So, for the first drink, I used the Italian style coffee from Rombouts, to make a Gingerbread latte, so first I filtered the coffee into a latte glass, just not putting as much water in, as I wanted just enough for a latte. I then added 2 teaspoons of the Gingerbread syrup and stirred that in while the milk was frothing. I then added the hot, frothed milk and gave it a stir. On top, I added whipped cream, only because I realised low fat milk doesn’t froth very well, I’ll be honest it’s much nicer without it. And then I just added a sprinkle of Ginger and Cinnamon on top, delicious!

Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate

For this one, I used the Cadbury’s hot chocolate. I added frothed milk to the powder, and stirred in 2 teaspoons of the Salted Caramel Syrup. On top, I added whipped cream, some marshmallows and sprinkled some of the cocoa powder on top. This is the perfect treat if you’re craving something sweet on these winter evenings!

Orange Hot Chocolate

For this one, I again added frothed milk to some Cadbury’s hot chocolate, and then stirred in 2 teaspoons of the Orange Triple Sec Curaçao syrup. I added some whipped cream and a sprinkle of the cocoa powder on top. If you like Terry’s chocolate orange, this will go down an absolute treat!

Candy Cane Hot Chocolate

I had never tasted this until I made it, and I don’t know why I never did because I’ve been seeing it around so much. I was missing out big time, it my new favourite kind of hot chocolate! You can’t get any more festive than the taste of chocolate and candy cane together! I found out it’s actually so easy to make too, so if you’re going to choose one to make, try this one! I  crushed up a candy cane until it was like a powder. I used a Cadbury’s Hot chocolate instant mixture for this one, which means basically the milk is already in there as a powder, so all you need to add is boiled water. I did this to make sure that the candy cane would melt and not get lumpy or just stick to the glass. This worked well and it mixed in with the Hot chocolate perfectly. I then added whipped cream and a sprinkle of the cocoa powder on top. I then added another candy cane for decoration, and to also add more flavour. I recommend adding the second candy cane if you want a stronger taste, it ended up also melting into the hot chocolate and it was insanely good!

I will definitely be drinking a lot of these over the festive season, and I’d love to hear what you think if you try them out too, so make sure to drop me a tweet if you do. Treat yo self!

Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it!
